Valentine's Day Wreath

As a stay at home mom, I am all for quick, easy, and inexpensive craft ideas. This wreath is just that. I purchased a styrofoam wreath (I think it was 13") and one 2.5 oz skein of "I Love This Yarn" sport weight in Cranberry color, from Hobby Lobby. I already had pink and white felt from another project and the ribbon was one I saved from a gift bag. Other than that all you need is some glue (I used my hot glue gun) and some scissors and you are ready to go.  

Step 1: Wrap the yarn tightly around the wreath. I found it easiest to hold the wreath between my legs, that way I had both hands free to move the yarn quicker. Once it is all wrapped, tie a knot so the yarn won't shift, but do not cut the yarn.

Lattice Scarf Crochet Pattern

 I love to crochet, and I love it when its something that is actually useful. I have short hair, and in the winter time my neck is always cold, even when I'm inside. So enters the super soft and cozy neck warmer! I finished this a few days ago and have worn it every day since! I was a little worried it might feel too bulky and big, but  the only thing I really notice about it, is that it is doing a fantastic job at keeping me feeling cozy and warm. I found 2 cute blue buttons to close it with. I liked it better with only one showing on the front, so I sewed the second on facing the back.

This is a super quick and easy pattern, even for newbies. Here's the pattern.

Free Santa Hat Crochet Pattern

This is one of my absolute favorite hat patterns. I made this hat for my son and a few of my nieces and nephews two years ago. Now that my daughter is a little older, and will sort of keep hats on, I decided to make one for her this year. This is an incredibly easy pattern. I changed the pattern slightly to fit how I like to crochet. You can get the original free pattern on Cherished Bliss, 

Materials Needed-

Needle size- I

Yarn- Lava Wash by Bernat. For the white yarn, I used some yarn I had left over, I think it was Caron Simply Soft.

Stitch Markers, not necessary but very helpful. If you don't have stitch markers you can always use a paper clip or piece of scrap yarn.  

Free Halloween Cat Crochet Pattern

Growing up, my husband remembers having a stuffed black cat that his mom had made as a Halloween decoration. Long story short, he loved that thing. He told me about it our first Halloween together and ever since then I have been looking for a stuffed black cat we could call our own. 5 Halloweens later and I have had no luck! I looked everywhere. Apparently snugly black cats are not something in high demand here. Finally this year I realized, hey, I can crochet a black cat! So away I went to search online for some ideas. I'm really big on free patterns and when I can't find one that I like, I usually just end up looking at pictures, and make it up as I go. I wasn't having a ton of luck there either. Until I found this little guy. The pattern was a little bigger than what I wanted, so I adjusted it, and this is what I came up with. We decided to not add eyes and a mouth, for some reason it seemed more fun. 

This was a surprise for my husband, so when I finished it I let my kids give it to him. After which they took it right back and played with it the rest of the night. My husband loved it! It doesn't really look anything like the cat he had growing up, but the memory of loving it and seeing our kids love this one was exactly what he was looking for. Success!!

Lion brand Super bulky 100% acrylic yarn, two 5oz skeins

Yarn Needle

Stitch Marker (optional)

Ribbon to tie around neck 

Stuffing- you can use anything really, rice beans, beads. I didn't want to make an extra bag to put those in so I just used Poly-Fil Polyester Fiber-Fil. After a month or so of little monsters playing with it, no stuffing has been pulled yet. :) 

"Comfy Cozy" Mittens Pattern

My son loves to be "Comfy Cozy" and since I have been learning to knit I thought it would be fun to make him some mittens to keep him Comfy Cozy. When I finished, he wanted to try them on and ended up wearing them  for over an hour while hanging out in my bed being "Comfy Cozy".
